Tempered glass is made by heating float glass to about 650 °C and cooling it rapidly. The result is 4–5 times stronger than annealed glass, withstands thermal stress and, if broken, shatters into small blunt granules — the safety-glass standard.
Important: all cutting, drilling and edge work is done BEFORE tempering; tempered glass cannot be cut afterwards. Exact dimensions and hole positions must therefore be specified in the order.
We temper clear, frosted, tinted and reflective glass; tempered panes can also be assembled into insulated units. More: What is tempered glass.
